Scaling Beyond a Startup

Scaling as a software company means a lot of different things. It can mean handling millions of users or requests, going from 5 developers to 50 or 100, handling petabytes of data or all of these at the same time. With APT's rapid growth has come multiple scalability challenges. Over the past few years, we have completely overhauled our software architecture to allow our development teams to go faster and scale as our customer base increases. Come hear about the details of this evolution and the many technical challenges involved in going from a startup to a rapidly growing, successful company.

Magnus Christerson, Executive Vice President, "Intentional Software."

Software developed by anyone? We build domain specific languages using a new approach called language workbenches. These are languages that are more suitable for non-developers – think Excel. Everyone can now turn their knowledge and ideas into software. Enormous potential; it will change programming the way we know it. And we're just getting started! Come and learn about Software 2.0

Tech Talk sponsored by Palantir: Monday, September 17th, 2012 at 6:30, Rice Hall, Room 120.

Please join some of our team members at Palantir Technologies, who will discuss how we build software platforms that help human experts perform powerful, collaborative analysis of data at scale. Palantir's software is deployed at public institutions, private enterprises, and in the non-profit sector to address the challenges of responsibly making sense of complex, diverse data. We solve the technical problems, so they can solve the human ones. Combating terrorism. Tracking disease outbreaks. Finding missing and exploited children. We believe that with the right technology and enough data, people can still solve hard problems and change the world for the better.
