Workflow and Job Management on the Grid
Condor has become one of the most widely used high-throughput computing systems. At the same time, new grid standards are creating opportunities for improved interoperability and increased access to computational resources. Longtime Condor users may hesitate to embrace these new resources if they are required to learn new languages, or if they must sacrifice the tools on which they have come to rely. To help these users transition to the grid, we introduce Condor2JSDL, a tool for translating Condor job definition files into the JSDL standard. Condor2JSDL’s translation is based on a study of 1.8 million Condor job histories and can translate over 98 percent of Condor job files into execution-ready JSDL. Condor2JSDL provides a job execution platform to which existing Condor users can migrate, providing increased execution resources without learning new languages or technologies.
